Digital Student Services

Enabling a world-class learning and teaching experience

In support of the ANU Learning & Teaching Strategy, we are modernising our learning ecosystem to better meet the needs of our students, staff, industry partners and government.

Recent initiatives we've delivered

A new, modern learning management system

In 2025, the University replaced Wattle with Canvas as our new learning management system. Canvas helps educators create more consistent, student-friendly course sites across the University. Integrated with tools like Echo360 and Turnitin, it gives students a clearer, more connected learning experience across their studies.

Bolstering student safety and wellbeing support capacity

In February 2024, we launched Advocate, a new case management system which allows our Student Safety and Wellbeing staff to create and assess tailored support plans for students, including handling sensitive sexual misconduct disclosures.

Melville Hall revitalised

We upgraded Melville Hall with new audiovisual technology including 6 screens and projectors, 55 speakers, as well as Microsoft Teams and Zoom integrated cameras and microphones – making dual delivery or hybrid teaching more accessible.

What's coming next

To simplify program planning, progress tracking and graduation checking for our students, we are implementing a new digital solution (internal access only) that will reduce manual effort, improve data consistency and enhance the student and staff experience.
