I believe mentoring is important because, sometimes, a cup of coffee with a non-judgemental external person can bring you a whole new perspective on life! I turn to my own mentors in critical times and hope to bring this kind of help to someone else one day.

I have struggled to handle the double scientist-mum life. I empathise on the difficulties of being (a) a woman in STEM, (b) a young parent trying to succeed in her career, (c) a researcher trying to make the two-body problem work, (d) a foreigner with little local support and a few visa headaches. I research renewable energy with a background in materials science. I have done my MASc in Canada (quantum computing), my PhD in Europe (photovoltaics, baby #1) and my post-doc here at the ANU (solar hydrogen, baby #2). I am now program manager for an industry-funded solar hydrogen project and preparing to turn our achievements into a start-up. I am still figuring out how to balance science with management/business aspects, I love this constant learning!
