At ANU, we use a Follow-Me printing system called PaperCut. Tap your ANU ID card to print, copy, or scan using any of the PaperCut-enabled printers across campus.

Staff printing

Staff, VAHA (Visiting and Honorary Accounts), PhD students, or researchers with affiliate accounts print for free. ​

Follow the instructions below on how to access the Print-At-ANU queue and how to use the Follow-Me printing.

Instructions

ANU-managed devices: the Print-At-ANU queue is available on the Company Portal (Windows devices) or the Self-Service app (Mac devices). 

Follow the instructions depending on the operating system of your device:

Personal (unmanaged) devices: download a print client to access the ‘Print-At-ANU’ queue. You will only need to complete this setup once and you will need to be on campus, connected to the network (for example through Wi-Fi).

Follow the instructions depending on the operating system of your device:

  • Windows (minimum system requirement is Windows 10). Windows Arm64 devices are not supported.
  • Mac (minimum system requirement is macOS 12 Monterey).
  • Linux (Ubuntu 16.0+, Novell SUSE 15.0+, Debian 11.0+, Red Hat 8.0+)

If your system is not supported, or you want to print from a mobile phone, table or Chromebook, use the PaperCut Portal to print.

Before you print, make sure you can access the ‘Print-At-ANU’ queue. Follow the steps outlined in the 'Set up your print queue' section above.

Printing from USB is not permitted for security reasons. Your documents will be retained in the print queue for 16 hours. If you haven’t released them, they will be automatically deleted. 

The default setting for printing is double-sided, grey scale. Follow these instructions on how to change these settings.

You can scan either to your ANU email or OneDrive. Scanning to other people's email (or OneDrive) is not permitted due to security reasons.

Forgot your ANU ID card?

You can still print, copy or scan using the PaperCut ID number. 

Log into the Papercut Portal using your UID credentials. In the left hand-side navigation of the Portal, select ‘Change Details’ and then ‘Generate Number’. At the printers type this number in the ‘ID’ filed.

ANU ID Card not working at the printer?

You can either:

  • Use your PaperCut ID number to log into the printer. For detailed instructions on how to setup the ID number, please read this Knowledge Article.
  • Request support or contact the Service Desk directly on +61 2 6125 54321. They will set up your ANU ID card so that you can print. 

Unable to sign into the PaperCut Web Portal?

To sign into the Portal, use the Single Sign On in u1234567@anu.edu.au format (don't use your name.surname@anu.edu.au).

Stuck in queue in the PaperCut Web Portal?

This can happen during times of high demand on the Web Portal. 

If the job(s) you submitted to the Portal get stuck in the queue, install the 'Print-At-ANU' queue instead. Follow the instructions in the ‘Install the print queue on your device’ section above.

Printer out of paper? Too many people in the queue?

Use any other of the Multi-Function Printers across campus.
