I believe mentoring is important because connecting with others and gaining new perspectives can support your journey (in academia or otherwise).
I studied in New Zealand and the US and moved to Canberra in 2018 to take up a position at ANU. I have some experience in adapting to new institutions, navigating new systems and academic cultures. I am a mum and an outdoor enthusiast, and my area of expertise is cognitive psychology. I have been lucky in having wonderful mentors (both at ANU and beyond) and believe that having local mentors and maintaining extended networks can help to create balance and broad perspectives.
*I prefer remote mentoring via Zoom/phone/email.
