Microsoft Office 365 is a subscription-based service that combines productivity applications like Word, Excel and PowerPoint with cloud services such as OneDrive and Microsoft Teams. It offers a suite of applications designed to facilitate collaboration, communication, and productivity across various devices. It enables users to create, edit, and share documents in real time, store files securely in the cloud, and conduct virtual meetings and chats. 

Microsoft Office 365 includes advanced security features to protect data and manage user access, making it a comprehensive solution for both personal and professional use.

Microsoft Office 365 include wide range of applications that facilitate collaboration, communication, document creation, data analysis and file storage. For full list of applications that are available to you, go to https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps/ and sign in using your UID and password.

Some of the key applications:

  1. OneDrive: Cloud storage for securely storing, sharing and accessing files from anywhere.
  2. Teams: Collaboration, chat, meetings and file sharing within teams.
  3. Outlook: Managing communication, email, calendars and contacts.  
  4. SharePoint: Sharing and managing content and documents within teams.  
  5. Word: Creating, editing and sharing documents.  
  6. Excel: Organising, analysing, calculating and visualising data in spreadsheets.  
  7. PowerPoint: Creating and presenting slideshows.
  8. Project: Planning, scheduling, tracking and managing projects.
  9. Visio: Creating professional diagrams.
  10. Bookings: Scheduling and managing appointments and bookings.  
  11. Forms: Creating surveys and forms for collecting data responses.
  12. Lists: Organising, tracking and managing information in customisable lists.
  13. Planner: Organising tasks, tracking progress and collaborating on projects.
  14. To Do: Organising and prioritising personal and work-related tasks.
  15. Power BI: Analysing, visualising and sharing insights from data.
  16. Sway: Creating interactive reports and presentations.
  17. OneNote: Notebook for organising notes, ideas and content across devices.  
  18. Whiteboard: Brainstorming, drawing and collaborating visually in real-time.

How to access

All ANU staff, students, researchers and academics can access Microsoft Office 365 for free. This access will deactivate upon leaving the University.

The Microsoft Office 365 suite is pre-installed on all University managed devices, both Windows and Mac. It can be installed from the Company Portal (Windows) and Self Service (Mac).

Each subscription licence allows for installation and sign in to Office on five PCs or Macs, five tablets and five phones.

For VaHAs requiring staff access to the software or for further support with access allocation and installation, please submit a Software Request ticket through the Service Desk portal.
