The University requires a fair and transparent process to fill vacant positions. It is generally accepted that Selection Committees provide an appropriate mechanism to support transparent merit-based selection.
The purpose of a selection committee is to assess the comparative merit of each applicant and to recommend the appointment of the best person for the job. The deliberations of the selection committee should at all times remain confidential.
To ensure that our hiring practices are consistent and unbiased across the University, it is mandatory for the Chair of the selection committee to complete the Selection Committee Chair Training online module prior to the selection committee convening.
It is recommended that all selection committee members complete the online module before participating in a Selection Committee.
