Smoking to be fully phased out

08 Jul 2020

From 27 July, Designated Outdoor Smoking Areas (DOSAs) on University Avenue/Kambri and the Fulton Muir precincts will be removed.

This decision forms part of the University’s journey to become a truly smoke-free campus. It also ensures ANU is actively managing health requirements with regards to physical distancing due to COVID-19 and in accordance with University Guidelines.

ANU is working with the residential halls and apartments to develop a plan to also phase out DOSAs in their precincts. This is anticipated to happen before commencement of Semester 1, 2021.

Staff and students are encouraged to consider the adverse health impacts of smoking to themselves and others. Support is available, through a range of programs, for those who would like to quit smoking.

More information on the University’s smoke-free policy, including support programs for those who would like to quit smoking, can be found at https://services.anu.edu.au/human-resources/wellbeing/smoke-free-campus.
