Pro-rated parking for Part-time staff

The Interim Vice-Chancellor has committed to provide pro-rated parking option to ANU part-time staff. Pro-rated parking permits will be available for ongoing and fixed-term part-time staff from July 2026 onwards. 

If you already hold a permit and are working part time, you do not need to cancel your permit. The pro-rated amount will be reflected in your upcoming pay on 16 July 2026. 

This option is only available for permits purchased through salary deduction and the amount deducted in your salary will be pro-rated to your FTE level.

I am a full-time staff member with flexible work arrangements. Am I eligible for pro-rated parking permit?

As this permit is pro-rated to your FTE level, full time staff will not see any reductions in permit cost.

 


Can I pay for my pro-rated parking permit upfront? 


Pro-rated permit is only available through salary sacrifice. The amount deducted will be apportioned to your FTE level in HORUS.

If you have paid for your permit upfront, please cancel your permit and contact parking office for a refund. You can then apply for a new permit paid through salary sacrifice. 

 


Do I need to cancel my existing salary sacrifice permit to obtain the pro-rated rate?


No. if you already hold an active parking permit paid through salary deduction, you do not need to cancel your permit. The pro-rated amount will be reflected in your upcoming pay on 16 July 2026.

 


When will I start seeing the pro-rated permit price applied to my salary deduction?

Pro-rated permit deduction will start on payday 2615, which is pay day 16 July 2026.

 


I am an ANU affiliate working part-time, am I eligible for pro-rated parking permit? 

Pro-rated permit is only available through salary sacrifice. Affiliates and individuals who do not receive ANU payslips are not eligible for pro-rated permit. 

 


I work at Mount Stromlo, why am I not eligible for pro-rated parking permit?

Pro-rated permit is only available through salary sacrifice. As there is no salary sacrifice option available for Mount Stromlo permit, this option is not available for Mount Stromlo permit holders. 

 


I am currently a full-time staff member, but I plan to work part-time. Do I need to cancel and start my permit to obtain pro-rated rate?

No. If you already hold a parking permit paid through salary sacrifice, you do not need to cancel and start your permit again to obtain pro-rated rate. The pro-rated rate deduction be applied to the next pay day after you have finalised your part-time arrangement formally with the University. 

 


Will ANU offer flexible parking permit options for full-time staff in the future?

The University does not currently have any plans to implement flexible permit options for 2026.
