International under 18 students
Academic Standards & Quality Office »
All international students who will be under 18 years of age when commencing studies at ANU must register with Academic Standards and Quality Office (ASQO). This enables the student to access a range of support services, programs, and activities to enhance their experience and help them succeed at University. To register with ASQO, students email CAAW@anu.edu.au with their name and University number (UXXXXXXX) and ASQO will provide guidance on next steps.
Once enrolled in their program of study, students must seek approval from the University for any changes to their accommodation and/or welfare arrangements before those changes are put in place.
International under-18 students must complete a travel form if they are:
- attending an overnight camp or excursion as part of their studies; or
- travelling or staying in accommodation outside of Canberra for any period of time
Under 18 students must stay in their approved accommodation while they are in Canberra.
Essential online modules
The compulsory modules found on the Essential Modules webpage are compulsory for all students. The Rights, Relationships and Respect Program online module explores the nature of sexual consent, how to recognise it and how to identify situations where it can't be given. The modules also encourage participants to recognise the importance of good communication, clear boundaries and mutual respect within our sexual and non-sexual relationships. The principles of bystander intervention, particularly when and how to intervene, are also explored.
Accommodation providers
On campus accommodation
ANU is looking to provide on-campus accommodation options for international students under 18 years of age from semester 1 2024. Further details will be available in the second half of 2023.
Australian Homestay Network (AHN)
For international students on a student visa applying to enrol in semester 2 2023, ANU provides the option of staying with an Australian host family arranged through AHN. The AHN organises homestay for international students.

Orientation Week
Orientation Week is designed to help you meet other new students, familiarise yourself with the campus and prepare for study. You will receive important information about your academic college, support services, visa requirements, program and course advice, academic skills development, staying healthy and making the most of student life.
Set4ANU
Set4ANU is a fun, free program designed to prepare students to excel at The Australian National University through holistic support during the first semester orientation and transition period. This encompasses both O-Week events and the semester-long Set4ANU Mentoring program.

Student Central
Student Central is your first point of contact for anything relating to student administration, advice and support services. Student Central can help you with a range of enquiries from enrolling in your courses and understanding fees and invoices, to getting your student ID card, graduation and more.
ON campus emergency
ANU Security manages security services on campus including safety initiatives and providing security related resources to the ANU Community.
