ANU Humanitarian Fellowship

Funded by The Australian National University

In 2023, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International & Corporate) established the Humanitarian Fellowship Fund (HFF), which will support the University’s ongoing membership with Scholars at Risk and the ANU Humanitarian Fellowship Stipend.

ANU Colleges seeking to host an academic on a short-term Humanitarian Fellowship can apply to receive matching funding from the HFF. A Humanitarian Fellowship is a standard ANU visiting appointment offered to an academic with a qualifying humanitarian visa. The HFF will be capped at two Humanitarian Fellowship Stipends of up to $20,000 each year. Additional in-kind support will also be provided under this scheme.

The ultimate aim of the HFF scheme is to provide a temporary academic home for a displaced academic. Access to the academic networks and resources of ANU will provide the Fellow with an opportunity to build new academic networks, apply for academic roles within Australia and ultimately start to rebuild their career.
