The planning framework incorporates the University's existing governance structure of Council, Committees and University Executive and is made up of three key elements:
- a hierarchy of plans commencing with the strategic plan and linking through to operational plans and individual staff members' Performance and Development Review (PDR)
- clear points of accountability between budgeting, resource allocation and planning
- a performance monitoring and reporting regime.
The aim of the planning framework is to create clear, transparent business processes to support the core business of the Colleges and the Divisions and to provide essential intelligence to the Executive and the leadership team of the University.
As part of this Strategic and Operational Framework, the Vice Chancellor led the development of the ANU Strategic Plan 2017-2021 endorsed by the University Council in December 2016 that sets a number of strategies for success.
