Improving our digital landscape to enable world-leading research
We are improving our digital landscape to enable world-leading research through technology, continuous improvement, and strong partnerships. By creating collaboration across our campuses, we aim to maximise positive outcomes for our research community.
Recent initiatives we've delivered
Research Portal Plus (RP+)
In July 2024, we launched Research Portal Plus (RP+), a centralised place to showcase researchers' expertise, publications, and projects. It provides a single place for all ANU researchers and Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates to manage their professional profiles and publications. To find out more, visit the Research Portal Plus SharePoint site (ANU access only).
New Confirmation of Candidature (CoC) milestone
In September 2024, the University replaced the previous Thesis Proposal Review (TPR) milestone, with a new Confirmation of Candidature (CoC) milestone. The change supports candidates with a single standard Confirmation of Candidature process. This promotes a better quality research experience, and supports timely program completion. This change included updates to multiple existing eForms.
Oral Examinations
The introduction of Oral Examinations component for PhD and MPhil candidates is also live, following the completion of the pilot program in 2022-2023. Oral Examinations are optional for candidates who began their program before July 2024, and mandatory for candidates who began their candidature after 1 July 2024. It is an opportunity for candidates to demonstrate their research findings and connect with experts in their field.
Visit the Confirmation of Candidature and Oral Examination SharePoint sites (ANU access only) for more information.
What's coming next?
Improving the ANU research lifecycle
This initiative aims to improve the University's research project management processes, starting with replacement of the current Costing and Pricing Approval tool. It will significantly enhance support for our research community by offering an integrated lifecycle ecosystem and modern, connected digital capabilities. The first phase of discovery work will include understanding current business processes and system-agnostic future business process design.
