Outlook for Windows
These instructions are for when you are logged onto an ANU computer connected to the ANU network.
If there is already an Outlook account configured it will take you automatically to the mailbox.
Note: When you first install Outlook it asks you to configure an MS Outlook account, if you didn’t then please follow these steps.
- Launch Control Panel.
- If the control panel view is “Category” change to “Large icons”
- Select Mail (32-bit)
- If there are no existing email accounts on your computer
- Click "Add Profile" and enter a profile name – "ANU Office 365"
- If there are existing email accounts on your computer
- Select E-mail Accounts…
- On the Account settings screen—Select New.
- Select E-mail Account
- You will be prompted for Auto Account Setup, enter the following information:
- Your Name: e.g. John Smith.
- E-mail Address: e.g. john.smith@anu.edu.au for staff, u1234567@anu.edu.au for students.
- Password: your ANU password.
- Retype Password: your ANU password.
- Select Next. Outlook will now try to complete the setup of your account.
- You will at this point be asked to authenticate to your mailbox.
- User Name: Your University-ID@anu.edu.au (e.g. u1234567@anu.edu.au)
- Password will be your ANU Password.
- Select Remember Password.
- You may be asked a second time to enter your account details
- Seclect "Use another account"
- User Name: Your University-ID@anu.edu.au (e.g. u1234567@anu.edu.au)
- Password will be your ANU Password
- Select OK. Once the mail account has been located and logged onto via Outlook you will see three green ticks on the screen.
- Select Finish. Outlook will now complete starting up and take you directly into your mailbox when your email profile settings are initialised.
NOTE: When open your mailbox it will be empty initially, while your emails are being copied locally to your computer from the Microsoft Office 365 servers.
Mail account configuration is complete.
Note: When you launch Microsoft Outlook, you asked to authenticate to your mailbox.
- User Name: Your University-ID@anu.edu.au (e.g. u1234567@anu.edu.au)
- Password will be your ANU Password.
