Staff and Family Tuition Fee Discount

The ANU Staff and Family Tuition Fee Discount provides staff and their family members with a discount on tuition fees for eligible ANU coursework degrees.

Eligible groups are able to access the following tuition fee discount rates for coursework programs. Submit your fee discount application by 23 July, 2021 to access the discount for Semester 2, 2021 study. Please read the handbook for further details.

Eligibility

Currently employed staff  

75% off tuition fees for degrees related to your current role. ​


25% off tuition fees for degrees not related to your current role. 

All staff holding continuing or fixed term appointments of 12 months or more.

Immediate Family members 

25% 

Eligible staff member’s partner including spouse, de facto and child, including the child of the staff member’s partner.

Former staff 

50% off tuition ​fees for degrees ​related to your current role. ​


25% off tuition ​fees for degrees ​not related to your current role. 

Former staff that held continuing or fixed term appointments in 2020 and 2021, but who were separated voluntarily, or by involuntary redundancy. 

ANU PhD graduates 

50% 

ANU PhD students who graduate between 1 Jan 2020 and Dec 31 2021

For Semester 2, 2021, all tuition fee discount applicants must be able to apply as a domestic student (an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Australia permanent resident, or an Australia permanent humanitarian visa holder).

The University will look to expand the scheme to international applicants for Semester 1, 2022.

Changes to the discount rate

Since the discount was initially announced, the discount rates have been changed for current and former staff who wish to study a degree or a program that is not related to their current role.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused and are offering a refund to those who have been impacted.

If you are a current or former staff member who submitted an application to study a program that is not related to your current role, and you do not wish to progress your studies due to the changed discount rate, we would be pleased to refund your application fee.

If you decide to withdraw your application and would like a refund on your application fee, please complete this form, selecting ‘Other’ for refund details and adding ‘Application fee refund’ into the box. Please email the signed form to: refunds@anu.edu.au for processing.

To get the discount and enrol in a program at ANU you need to fill out two application forms; one application for the program you intend to study and one application for the Staff and Family Tuition Fee Discount.
