What is a relocation allowance?
The University provides travel and removal allowances for staff recruited from all parts of Australia and overseas.
The University will pay economy class airfares by the cheapest and most direct route from the place of recruitment to Canberra, or another ANU location. Where the appointee elects to travel by means other than air, the allowance will be up to the equivalent of an economy class airfare or vehicle mileage rate in Australia, which ever is the lesser. The method of payment of these expenses will normally be by reimbursement on production of receipts.
In addition to paying for travel costs, the University will provide you with a removal allowance. The amount of grant payable for removal expenses will be set by the recruiting area and will be set out in the offer letter. The allowance may be used for expenses relating to relocation of the appointee and their dependents. The method of payment of these expenses will normally be by reimbursement on production of receipts.
