The Ethics Office facilitates high quality ethical research that upholds the legislated requirements in the Australian Code for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes and the ACT Animal Welfare Act 1992, the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2018), and the Gene Technology Act 2000.

The Ethics Office provides administrative support for the various Ethics Committees and ethics application processes, training for research staff and students, and advice on research ethics. The Ethics Office also manages state and territory animal licences and co-ordinates inspections of animal facilities and facilities for work with genetically modified organisms.
