MARCH 2020

Belated New Year good wishes to you all. The start of 2020 has been a challenging time for us all but I wish to thank you all for your tireless efforts and collegiality to support one another through the bushfire/smoke, hail and travel restrictions that have affected us all. If your research has been impacted please contact your school HDR Conveners or Administrators for assistance.

A special welcome to our newly commenced higher degree research candidates – I look forward to meeting you at our induction session to be held on 15 - 16 April,
register here. This induction, organised by the Researcher Development team, offers essential information and support you in a friendly environment – and with food!

The Redefining the ANU PhD White paper has been approved and this year we will be working towards implementing the strategy. The most obvious changes you will see straight away is increased support across the University for HDR candidates to develop their professional and interpersonal skills to ensure you are not only exceptional researchers but are competitive in all career aspirations.

2020 is likely to be a busy year of change for the ANU HDR cohort and I look forward to working with you and hearing your feedback (

Sincerely,

Professor Ann Evans
Dean, Higher Degree Research
