Pomodoro Breaks – a professional development snack in your coffee break

Emotions and the PhD

The first Pomodoro Break mini-course in 2020 will focus on the emotions that you are likely to experience during a research degree, some of which may be heightened with all the challenges 2020 has brought to our research community. Understanding these feelings will help you manage the ups and downs of research, allowing you to enjoy a smoother run through your degree.

The course will run over a week, 20-24 April 2020. Please register your interest by 5 pm Thursday 16 April via this GoogleDoc link. Then we'll send you a link each day to a short blog post that provides some stimulating reading, links to relevant material, provocative questions and useful activities. All up, the reading and responding will take 20-30 minutes - just enough time to drink your coffee. For more information and any questions, contact Cally Guerin

Statistical Consulting Unit

Consulting support is available, free of charge, to Honours students with research projects, Higher Degree Research students (e.g. Masters, PhD) and staff in all parts of the University. They offer

Ethics Office

The ANU Ethics Office is now offering its services “online”:

  • Research Ethics Drop-in session: Researchers can email to request a Zoom or phone consultation.
  • Human Ethics (ARIES) Training: We ask that researchers watch the ARIES Training video on this website. We are working on updating this video as soon as possible.
  • Animal Ethics Seminar (ANML03): Researchers can still register through HORUS and be added onto the WATTLE site. We ask that researchers go through the material online on Wattle and attend face-to-face training at a later date.
