We are in the final stage of Canberra winter with snow sprinkling the Brindabella Ranges around Canberra and blossoms and wattle providing colour.

Last week I was one of the judges for the Visualise Your Thesis competition. We saw 12 engaging 60-second visualisations of research that will change lives. Congratulations to our winner, Anthony Chi Hin Leung who is using quantum physics to keep our data safe. Anthony is off to the International Final hosted by Melbourne University. The people’s choice award went to Shamim Homayun for his stunning visual and poetic description of Afghanistan’s cultural landscapes.

We have another competition coming up – the #ANU3MT 3 Minute Thesis competition will be streamed on 4 September at noon. While we can’t celebrate together in Llewelyn Hall, you are welcome to join us online to support your colleagues. Register for a free ticket here, strictly limited places.

#ANU3MT Final - 4 September, noon.

The Three Minute Thesis is an international competition for higher degree research candidates to showcase their research. Candidates present to an audience on what their research is and why it is important in plain language for three minutes, with only a single PowerPoint slide. The #ANU3MT ANU Final will be streamed live via zoom Fri, 4 September 12:00pm - 1:30 pm. Register your free ticket to attend here.

PostAc

Have you tried out PostAc yet? This new product has been developed by ANU researchers to help PhD graduates find jobs using their research skills outside academia. Idea to Impact

The Idea to Impact program is a competitive program researchers and entrepreneurs with early traction with their ventures who are looking to progress their ideas, find commercial partners and market opportunities.

From the Thesis Whisperer

There's a lot of depressing news out there, so I've been trying to focus on the future. Check Post-Pandemic university, launching out of Cambridge University in September.
