HDR Update

The first frosts have arrived as we move into Winter.

I was fortunate to join the VC and Dean of Science to be a judge at the Research School of Earth Sciences ‘Bake your thesis’ competition. The entrants were required to represent their research in cake form and were judged on how well the cakes represented the research, creativity and presentation, and taste. All of the entries were incredibly well conceived, executed, and yummy. Congratulations to Alysha Jones whose representation of Lake George sediment samples took out the win.

Baking is not the only way to communicate your research. We are also participating in Visualise Your Thesis and 3 Minute Thesis competitions this year that helps to develop your research communication skills. The Researcher Development Team will also be delivering the Expert Communicator Boot Camp in July which can further develop oral and written communication skills to help your research have impact with a wide variety of audiences. You can find out more here.
