Tragic research mistakes and how to avoid them
There are many potential pitfalls for researchers, especially when you are starting out in your career. Knowing the rules is one thing, working out how to navigate your way in practice can be difficult.
Researchers are often confronted with complex ethical situations. We show you how smart researchers operate when confronted with the complex social situations that exist in university environments. We also show you how to solve problems while avoiding damaging key relationships and how to put in place systems that will help you sleep at night.
By the end of this workshop you will be able to:
- know some of the common research integrity problems faced by research students
- have a better understanding of why some of these problems occur
- have an understanding of what steps I can take to reduce the risk of these problems affecting my research
- be aware of my responsibilities for reporting problems (and some of the common barriers to reporting)
This workshop series is available to all HDR students. It is also part of the Science, Health and Medicine Career Development Framework program and can be counted as a valid activity. All these workshops will help you earn CDS points!
