Connect with ANU HDR communities
There are several student-led communities for HDRs at ANU. If you can't find something that works for you, the research training team can help you start your own!
- ANU Postgraduate and Research Students' Association (PARSA);
- PARSA's Shut Up and Write! sessions: come along and work with other HDRs from all over the University and get some productive writing done!
- ANU International Students' Department;
- ANU Climate café: a relaxed gathering of researchers from all disciplines interested in climate change.
Connect with other candidates via social media
There is a lot of community to be found online. The #academictwitter hashtag on Twitter is active at all times of the day and night. You can also find other research students posting on #acwri (academic writing), #ecrchat, #phdlife, #phdchat, #virtualnotviral and many other hashtags.
Blogs are also an invaluable source of community and expert advice. Here are some of the best:
- The Thesis Whisperer
- The Research Whisperer
- Patter
- Explorations of Style
- Doctoral Writing SIG
- PhD to Published
- Writing for research
