The objective of the online training is to give the background knowledge required to commence practical training in the relevant procedures. The courses are designed to compliment practical training and provide an additional assessment tool for training providers. These courses are also designed to highlight the requirements of best practices endorsed by the Animal Experimental Ethics Committee (AEEC).

All staff and students working with animals at The Australian National University are required to attend an animal ethics seminar and complete online and practical training before their work with animals commences.

Ethics seminars are run 3-4 times per year and are advertised on the AEEC website and via all College email lists.
Experienced staff and students have the option to complete the online training and undergo immediate practical assessment without attending the practical training course.
