Earlier this year ANU was advised that a specific type of residual current device (RCD) circuit breaker commonly referred to as a “Quicklag” is subject to a recall and replacement.
Quicklag RCDs have been used extensively at ANU, particularly in the older switchboards. The University has been audited to determine the extent and quantities of RCDs needed to be replaced.
A contractor has been appointed and will shortly be contacting building custodians to arrange suitable times for the temporary isolation of switchboards so the RCDs can be safely replaced. A program of works will be negotiated with each custodian including pre-agreed time frames for the switchboard outages.
The replacement of the RCDs is a mandatory requirement and the contractor will work with the building custodian to minimise the impact on University operations.
