In June 2018 ANU was advised that a specific type of residual current device (RCD) circuit breaker commonly referred to as a “Quicklag” is subject to a recall and replacement.
Quicklag RCDs have been used extensively at ANU, particularly in the older switchboards and after the recall, the University was audited to determine the extent and quantities of RCDs needed to be replaced.
Safe removal and replacement started mid 2018 and is ongoing.
The replacement of the RCDs is a mandatory requirement and the contractor is working with building custodians to minimise the impact on University operations.
