Infoblox upgrade and split horizon DNS

Earlier this year ITS upgraded the Infoblox service which is used to manage DNS, DHCP and IPAM. We are now moving to phase two of the project which is to use Infoblox as the authoritative source for these services. This includes the implementation of Split Horizon DNS to separate internal/private address resolution from external/public address resolution.

The benefits of this are:

  • Improved protection from internal and external cyber-risks
  • Simplified environment with a ‘single source of truth’ for DHCP, DNS and IPAM

Over the coming weeks and months - as far as is possible - ANU will be migrating to the Infoblox services and we seek your support for the migration project.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact; Devon Smith (Project Manager, ITS) or Josh Parkinson (Acting Network Manager, ITS).
