The technical workshops project is underway to identify and implement a Work Management System across technical workshops at the ANU. The system will standardise and improve processes and workflows for technical workshop staff, as well as improve the service experience for users of the technical workshop services.
The current state, end-to-end processes and user experiences have been documented through extensive consultation with technical workshop staff, school administrative staff and customers of the workshops.
During August there will be a two-day Process Improvement Forum that will bring together representatives from all technical workshops across campus. The Forum is similar to a Rapid Improvement Event (which is part of the Lean Process Improvement methodology), that have been facilitated by the Service Improvement Group to improve administrative processes. The focus for the Forum will be to brainstorm improvement ideas and to co-design the future state processes with the users of the Work Management System. Outputs from the Forum will be used to develop the stakeholder requirements for the system and guide discussions with system vendors.
