The project team is pleased to announce that the Infinity application, developed by Idea Elan, has been selected as the Technical Workshop’s Work Management System. Idea Elan Infinity is an online tool designed to manage service requests and shared equiptment in research facilities. It is used by over 50 research institutions worldwide.
The main goal for implementing a single Work Management System is to support the distributed workshops across the University and provide consistent service across these workshops. This will be achieved through standardising the way each workshop works, from how jobs are established, how they are managed and tracked, to how each job is closed and billed.
A Working Group has been established to collaboratively design the future standardised processes across the Technical Workshops. The Working Group is meeting weekly and involves workshop staff, researcher and technical customers, and administrative representatives. The Group will also provide a significant input in defining the functional, technical and design requirements of the system. Data gathered from the first stage of the project will be used to inform the decisions to be made in stages 2 and 3 of the project, including any future standardised user pay models.
