Social Enterprise Bootcamp

Looking to apply your research skills and knowledge for social benefit? Interested in social ventures but don’t know where to start?

The ANU Technology Transfer Office is hosting the Social Enterprise Bootcamp.

The full-day workshop, facilitated by The Difference Incubator, is designed to introduce the language of the Business Model Canvas and allow individuals to assess business sustainability through key aspects of Desirability (customer focus), Feasibility (operational capacity) and Viability (financial sustainability) and their inter-relationship.

The workshop aims to help you develop and evaluate business models, where they can be used at various stages of a business venture. The framework has been developed to help enterprises and entrepreneurs to design or refine a business model that ensures they are working towards building a commercially sustainable business without compromising on impact or intent.

The workshop is interactive and engaging, and will:

  • show you how to use the Business Model Canvas with the element of Intent
  • teach you the language that surrounds the canvas and how it provides clear structure and meaning to the most important elements of a business
  • allow you to canvas a business, test assumptions and uncover how all the parts of the business fit together; such as customers, operations, financials and partners.
  • teach you to use a process and business language that allows them to reiterate business models as they evolve.

The workshop is aimed at any ANU researchers, HDR students or professional staff interested in social enterprises, particularly those already with an idea for a social venture or those interested in taking their field or study or research to market for social good.
