New IT User Portal and brokerage service

3 August 2015

The User Portal will consist of a new user-friendly interface with automatic workflows to commonly requested services such as ordering desktop hardware and requesting IT support.

The University has launched a new interface to the Service Desk (https://servicedesk.anu.edu.au/) as well as a procurement service for common desktop computers.

ITS and College IT staff (via the Workspace Program Working Groups) have been working together over the past few months to develop a new front-end to the Service Desk tool, called the User Portal as well as common desktop computer configurations, processes and procedures for a university wide procurement service.

The User Portal consists of a new user-friendly interface with automatic workflows to commonly requested services such as ordering desktop hardware and requesting IT support.

ITS will be offering a brokerage service which includes procurement, leasing and services associated with the deployment of common desktop computers. The service will include:

  • self-service purchasing offerings via the User Portal
  • stock on-hand to supply ad-hoc requests for common desktop computers
  • bulk purchases
  • internal leasing for bulk purchases: areas can spread the purchase cost out over 3 years by making annual repayments (with no interest)
  • deployment services: asset tagging, imaging and delivery.

It is envisaged that the User Portal and this brokerage service will improve efficiencies and service delivery to staff and students.
