Join NECTAR's fortnightly research webinar series and stay connected with ANU ECAs.
Our first speaker will be Isabel Mudford, who is a PhD Candidate in the School of Sociology at ANU. Her research is analysing the emerging category of LGBTIQ health and the role of community health organisations in making and using this category. In her presentation, Isabel will critically examine the use of the Minority Stress Theory to explain the high rates of cigarette smoking in the LBQ women's community in Australia. Our second speaker will be Jhana de Silva. Jhana is a PhD Candidate at the Research School of Psychology. Her research explores how we integrate sensory information in the brain to create a holistic sense of self. Learn more about how Jhana uses perceptual illusions such as the Rubber Hand Illusion – an illusion which causes the participant to feel ownership over a prosthetic hand – to explore how different conditions can alter participant’s body awareness.
