Join NECTAR's fortnightly research webinar series, stay connected with ANU ECAs and learn some valuable skills along the way.
Our first speaker will be Galen Cuthbertson who is a PhD candidate at the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics. His work explores the use of complex machine learning models in humanities and social science research. Galen will discuss his path from philosophy and 'traditional' literary studies to statistical modelling, and why he thinks that the computational turn in the humanities is here to stay.
Our second speaker will be Annamaria De Rosa. Annamaria is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Plant Sciences division at the Research School of Biology. Annamaria recently completed her PhD at ANU, and soon after started her research position. Annamaria researches plant channel proteins called aquaporins that provide highly selective transport of a variety of solutes vital for plant growth. She will share her experiences on transitioning from a PhD to a postdoc and some highlights of her postdoc so far, including insights from two innovation challenges her lab team recently participated in, the H2O Hackathon and the BridgeHub Water Challenge.
