HDR Admissions moves to planning phase

The HDR Admissions Project Start-Up and Approval Phase was completed on 15 August 2017, enabling the project to move to the Project Planning Phase.

The Planning Phase involves the development of key project documents including the Project Plan, Risk Register, Issues Register, Communications Plan and Functional Specification Document. The Project Plan, Risk and Issue Registers and Communications Plan were approved oin October and work is ongoing on the Functional Specification.

Five HDR Working Group meetings have been held to date, completing deep-dives into the functional requirements for the Pre-Application, Application, Core Application Processing, Offers and Acceptance and Reporting components of the Admissions process. The Group is also investigating associated policy and process changes, including the potential for moving to a number of fixed HDR admission periods across the academic year and the alignment of scholarship and candidature offers.

Next Steps

  • HDR Working Group meetings to continue. Upcoming topics include ANU PhD Policy and Published Information. Additional discussion is scheduled regarding Reporting requirements.
  • Ongoing consultation with key stakeholders including overseas agents (e.g. IDP), college and school staff, and students.
  • Continued work on the Functional Specification.
