Freedom of Expression Item Test Survey

Participant Information Consent Form

As part of the continuous improvement of the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) surveys, a set of items concerning 'freedom of expression' is being developed for inclusion in the Student Experience Survey.  ANU has been invited to participate in testing the different versions of the items.

You are one of 4,000 ANU students we are contacting to help test these Freedom of Expression items.

There are two modules in this anonymous survey. Module 1 contains:
-  four (4) demographic questions that are used to help us work out whether students across the ANU student community respond to this survey in broadly the same way.
-  four (4) Freedom of Expression items that we are testing. The questions in Module 1 are the really important questions - the ones that we hope you will take time to answer. Four different versions of these questions are being tested, so you might see slightly different questions to those that other ANU students completing this survey might see.

Module 2 tests different ways of asking about student sense of belonging to the ANU community, followed by some questions about how ANU students decide whether an invitation to an on-line survey is legitimate or if it is a potential phishing risk.  Answers to Module 2 questions will help us better understand and measure sense of belonging, plus improve the way we ask students to respond to on-line surveys at ANU.

After completing Module 1, you will be asked if you wish to continue on to complete Module 2, which is optional. It should take you no more than 5 minutes to complete Module 1, and no more than 10 minutes to complete both Module 1 and 2.

The survey is open from 27 May to 6 June 2021.
