Quiz: How can I set different access times for different users/groups?

System: Wattle »

When setting up quizzes, you may want individuals or groups of students to access them at different times (e.g. for different tutorial groups).

Instead of setting up separate quizzes, you can now create overrides to allow different students or groups to access the quiz at different times.

Steps

Step 1

select quiz

Click on the quiz you would like to set an override date for a user or a group.

Step 2

user and group overrides

In the Administration block, select either Group overrides or User overrides.

Group overrides allow you to change the access period of the quiz for all users within a group (see group selection) while User overrides allow you to change the access period of the quiz for a single student.

Step 3

Click Add user/group override.

Step 4

Select the group or user you would like to apply this override to. You can then set/enable:

  • Open the quiz - this is when the quiz will be open to the select user/group of users
  • Close the quiz - when the quiz will be unavailable to the user/group of users
  • Time limit - if enabled, the time limit is stated on the initial quiz page and a countdown timer is displayed in the quiz navigation block
  • Attempts allowed - number of times the students are allowed to attempt the quiz

You can also Revert to quiz defaults if you do not wish to apply an override anymore.

Click Save to return to the list of overrides or Save and enter another override to add another override.

Step 5

You will be able to see a list user or group overrides on this page.

Note: Students will be able to see the override dates in the Calendar.
