How to Access Live Streaming Session

Universal Capture Personal (UCAP) now allows users to live stream their teaching and have it recorded at the same time. The recorded live stream will then be uploaded to the Echo360 sites for students to view.

This guide will help students access their Live Streaming Session in their Wattle course.

NOTE: Students are recommended to keep a track of their course page, announcements and discussion forums in order to know the upcoming Live Stream schedule.

Steps

Step 1

Go to the Wattle course and access the Echo360 via the Echo360 ALP Lecture recording link.

Step 2

Students will be directed to the classes section on Echo360 where Live Streaming class will be available to access. Click on the class name to enter the session staging area.

*Note: Look for the class that has the LIVE stream icon highlighted right next to the class name.

In the staging area students will see the session's information. Click on "Show Live Stream" button to enter the Live Stream.

*Note: Students have to wait in the staging area until the “Show Live stream” option is available on the screen. The time range to appear “Show Live Stream” option may vary between 30 seconds to 3 minutes depending on network connectivity.

Your Live Stream may look like this image. Number of screens displayed in the session depends on the lecturer's setup. This includes a presenter/ lecturer view, screen share and study material.

Click on the “Sources” at the right bottom of the screen to switch between the screens being displayed in the session. Students can select which screen they want to see as their primary screen during the live session.

Click on the "Discussion" and "New Question" buttons to see questions asked by other students and to ask questions, respectively. 

*Note: The lecturer is unable to see the questions posted in the "Discussion" and "New Question" section. The lecturer will be able to review and answer those question after the session.

 

Step 7

Transcripts will be available after the Live Stream session has ended and the recording has processed by Echo360.

*Note: In some courses Transcripts are disabled
