Types of mentoring:
Academic

I believe mentoring is important because having good mentors is critical for navigating a research career and for feeling connected.

I am a research-intensive academic working in population mental health research, with a strong methodological focus. I have received grants from NHMRC (CRE, Project, Partnership), philanthropic organisations, NGOs and government, with three NHMRC fellowships. I publish extensively and collaborate widely, both within and beyond ANU. My work is applied, aiming to make a difference in communities, policy and practice. I supervise many postgraduate students. The many demands on academic careers can be challenging, although the variety, creativity, stimulation and impact of the work keep me engaged. Balance with family time is also essential to me.
