Types of mentoring:
Non-academic

I believe mentoring is important because it allows both the mentee and the mentor to learn from each other experience and see things from a different perspective.

I am coming from overseas and have worked in various European industries for almost 10 years before joining CSIRO in 2010. My husband is a researcher at ANU and we have two school-aged girls born in Australia.

I think my background as a foreign woman in STEM allows me to approach life with an open mind. I would love to support my mentee to deal with priorities and change of plans, to nurture flexibility and to understand what career paths are available and their impacts on a personal level.
