Types of mentoring:
Academic

I believe mentoring is important because I think the academic world can feel extremely competitive and isolating, and I want to empower young researchers, especially from minorities, to reach their full potential.

I am an early-career researcher in neuroscience at the ANU. I came to Australia mid-2018 and it was the first time I was leaving my hometown. For most of us coming from overseas, it’s been an especially difficult year and I can provide support for that particular situation.

I have also been in difficult student-supervisor relationships, which I was able to overcome, and it taught me a lot.

I have extensive experience in supervision, writing theses, papers, preparing presenting at conferences or in exams, and in my modestly young career, what to do to set yourself up for future success.
