Types of mentoring:
Academic

I believe mentoring is important because sometimes talented people don't find out what they're truly capable of until they get a bit of a push from someone who believes in them.

I would be best placed to mentor someone who is in the early years of an academic career. As the editor of an academic journal I can offer guidance on the journal publishing process. I've successfully been through the ANU Promotions process twice and I've been awarded a DECRA. I used to be a public servant and as an academic I engage with people involved in policy making. Because I teach a course on genocide and I research trauma-informed social policy, I've taken an interest in how to prevent vicarious trauma in students and academics studying distressing topics.
