Types of mentoring:
Academic

I believe mentoring is important because no one has had a perfect or challenge free career and we all need support in reaching our goals.

I am an associate professor in Biological Anthropology, a mum of two small children and a step mum. In my time at ANU I have taken on multiple leadership positions, won teaching awards and secured large grants. I have also juggled caring for my daughter and going through IVF with my son. I understand the struggles and challenges that we face when trying to balance our professional and personal lives. I am open about the challenges I have faced as I think if we are able to share our experiences – good and bad – that we can all grow as academics and champion for change to make things better for future academics.
