Types of mentoring:

I believe mentoring is important because I wish I had such mentoring advices earlier and also specific moments in my career.

I am a female academic of non-English speaking background, and there were specific challenges which an academic of this background had to face in my academic career. I am also in the field which combines a few established disciplinary fields, which locates me at the marginal in each discipline (History, Area Studies, International Relations, International Law), but at the same time, which also makes my works well recognized as original, and innovative. It took, however, certain twist and turns to get to where I am, and I hope my experiences will be of some use for those in a similar situation for identifying publishing venues, finding collaborative projects with overseas institutions, and getting prestigious grants.
