ANU aims to provide a research and study environment that meets world's best sustainability practice. It aims to achieve this via the University's award-winning environmental management program, managed by ANUgreen in the Facilities and Services Division. The program was established in 1999 under the ANU environment policy. Since then ANU has developed four environmental management plans. ANUgreen is responsible for implementing the University's Environmental Management Plan by working directly with the University community, educating and empowering staff and students to play an active role in reducing the collective environmental impact.
